Where were they?

On Tuesday, the Exeter Post of the American Legion held a program in Gale Park to honor our past and present veterans. A number of veterans and observers attended the event.
As was pointed out by one of the speakers, this year marks 100 years since the start of the `War to end all wars.'

Unfortunately, what was very noticeable at the event was the absence of our selectmen, Town Manager and Town department managers. Apparently, our elected and appointed officials, like too many others today, look at Veterans Day as just another day off of work.

  1. "Veterans Day" was originally "Armistice Day," and it was to observe the end of WWI, and, presumably all wars. Why it turned into yet another day to bow down before the US military, I do not know. Publius, I recommend you listen to the "Universal Soldier." War is a racket.

  2. It seems quite possible the citizens of the US are realizing and for good reason that our conflicts around the globe for fifty plus years are those we have provoked, synthesized and inflamed. It seems we don't even declare war we just have executive orders to terrorize and kill others. Not an admirable mission for our military or reputation for a veteran to endure.
For a recent reality check, the popular press war triggering story of Sept 11, 2001 is completely bogus and admittedly I bought it ....until I looked at the evidence that is obvious to all who are interested.
